ANC's Jackson Mthembu shot & wounded

JOHANNESBURG - Former African National Congress (ANC) spokesperson and current Member of Parliament Jackson Mthembu was shot and wounded at a mall in eMalahleni on Sunday.

The ANC MP was at an ATM withdrawing money when an attacker pointed a firearm at the politician, police said.

When Mthembu turned around, he was shot in the cheek.

He is in a serious but stable condition.

Mthembu's family told the Citizen newspaper the shooting may have been politically motivated.

Police are now investigating a case of armed robbery.
