JOHANNESBURG - Kaizer Chiefs continued their winning streak in the Absa Premiership after claiming a 1-0 win over Ajax Cape Town on Sunday to extend their lead to 10 points at the top of the Premier Soccer League table.

The win for the Glamour Boys is the first over the Cape Town outfit in the league since 2009 and sees them hold the record for most wins in a row (15), having yet to lose in the league and cup competitions this season.

Other results on Sunday saw Bloem Celtic claim an impressive 5-1 win over Polokwane City. Goals from Alfred Ndengane, Vuyani Ntanga, Dumisani Zuma and a late brace from Kenoshi Motshegwa saw Celtic climb to 11 with 9 points to their tally.

Saturday's league action saw a mid-table clash between possible title contenders Mamelodi Sundowns and Wits. That match, despite the hype around it, failed to live up to expectations as they played out a 0-0 draw at Loftus Stadium.

Meanwhile in Orlando, Pirates got back to their winning ways in the league after a Daine Klate goal in the second half saw the Buccaneers move up to second on the log, 10 points behind rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

Other fixtures played on Saturday saw Maritzburg United claim all three points after beating Platinum Stars 3-0 at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

AmaZulu meanwhile continue to search for the first win of the season after a 1-0 defeat to Chippa United.

Not even a change in coaching staff after the sacking of Craig Rosslee could stop them from falling to their fifth loss in eight games.
