CAPE TOWN - The 2014 Currie Cup competition reaches its business end this weekend when the final four teams battle it out for a place in next week's final.

Western Province finished the league stage at the top of the log, winning eight matches and losing two. The side's attacking flair has indeed made them favourites to win the competition, however, they can be beaten as the Golden Lions proved earlier in the competition when they beat the Capetonians at Ellis Park.

Their top of the table finish has set up a semi-final meeting with arch rivals the Blue Bulls at Newlands on Saturday.

Province will be the more confident side heading into the clash, having already beaten the Bulls twice this campaign.

In August, Province smashed the Bulls 47-17 in a league fixture at Newlands, and followed that up with a 23-18 win away at Loftus.

But those two wins will count for nothing heading into this playoff game, as an in-form Bulls side will feel they have a chance of causing an upset.

Following a slow start to their campaign which saw Frans Ludeke's side lose three of their four opening games, they managed to turn their season around and sneak into the final four.

The Bulls will be without centre Burger Odendaal which means Handre Pollard will start at centre instead.

Regardless of where the Springbok pivot starts, he will play a major role for the Bulls, something that Province are well aware of.

This semi-final between South Africa's traditional rivals is sure to produce an exciting match.
