JOHANNESBURG - Armed men have hit the Irene Village Mall shopping centre, bringing to four the number of mall robberies in less than 24 hours in Gauteng and the Western Cape.

Police say the Telkom Mobile store was targeted at the Irene centre in Centurion this afternoo.

Three suspects entered the shop and demanded stock.

Shots were fired as they fled on foot.

Police say the getaway driver was arrested in a blue Audi A4.

Earlier today the Vodacom shop at Centurion Mall was robbed, but police managed to arrest six people.

Police say they recovered the stolen electronics at the scene, along with three firearms.

A woman from Botswana who was held up at the store during the robbery says she feared for her life.

"I was horrified. I was with my daughter and husband. We were calm during the whole incident. It's after that we shaking and scared. I was so scared for my daughter. I'm just glad it wasn't too violent."

The Adidas store at the mall has also closed shop temporarily after the armed robbery and shooting.

The manager of the sports shop was at the Vodacom store when the gang of men stormed in.

Her employee says she is traumatised.

"She went there to find out about an iPad, but once she was about to leave there was a guy at the door who prevented her from leaving. She came back crying and hysterical."

Employees say this is the third robbery at this mall, and they're now scared to report for duty.

The iStore was robbed in August, with gunmen making off with thousands of rand in electronics.

Police are now trying to find out if this is the same gang involved in that robbery.

The value of the stolen goods is not yet known, but police have recovered two bags with cellphones and have arrested six suspects.

In Cape Town another Vodacom shop at the Bayside Mall was robbed this morning while a gang targeted a store at Canal Walk last night.
