Bafana, Congo locked at 0-0 at HT
The artificial pitch was clearly a problem for the South African players.
JOHANNESBURG - Bafana Bafana and Congo-Brazaville are locked at 0-0 at half-time in their AFCON 2015 qualifier being played in Pointe-Noire.
The artificial pitch was clearly a problem for the South African players, with dribbling particularly difficult.
Other players slipped and tripped on the synthetic surface.
Besides the issues with the pitch, Bafana showed some quality touches on attack, particularly from Andile Jali and Dean Furman in midfield which led to a number of good chances.
One chance in particular fell to Tokelo Rantie in the 12th minute, but one too many touches saw him lose the ball in front of goal, where he should've at least made the keeper work.
Bafana are getting in behind the defence, but failure to take early shots may be why they're not in front.
Thulani Serero also looked in good nick in his first game back into the national side.
Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa has again been at his best, keeping out a number of Congolese attempts.
For the Congo, Dimitri Bissiki has caused some concern for Bafana, by attacking down the left.
The visitors also managed to withstand late pressure from Congo, to go into the tunnel locked at 0-0.
