Man hacked to death at Melville bar
The man’s family say they hope police will find the attacker and that justice will eventually be served.
JOHANNESBURG - A search is underway after a man was hacked to death at a bar in Melville over the weekend.
The body of 29-year-old Thulane Popoyi was found near the Dollar Table on the corner of Seventh Street where he had gone to watch the South Africa versus New Zealand rugby match on Saturday.
It's understood he went to the bathroom half way through the game and never returned.
His body was found at around 5am in an alley behind the popular bar as it was closing.
Popoyi's boss Collin Law says the family is shocked.
"He was brutally hacked to death with a panga."
The family say they hope police will find the attacker and that justice will eventually be served.
