GDE officials to resign if matric pass fails to rise
Pupils at public schools throughout SA will sit for their final exams next month.
JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Education Department on Wednesday said its district managers and heads of department (HODs) have signed an agreement to resign if the matric pass rate drops.
This forms part of the performance agreement signed by officials.
Matric pupils at public schools throughout the country will sit for their final exams next month.
More than 101,000 full time candidates have been registered for this year's National Senior Certificate.
Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says, "Where we are, the pass rate needs to go up and the agreement is so crafted that they have to hand in a resignation if the performance drops."
