JOHANNESBURG - A man attacked during a mob justice incident two weeks ago cannot be linked to the murders of three women in Mamelodi, Gauteng police said on Friday.
Officials added he was never a suspect.
Pictures of Caipus Nemavhadwa being assaulted, and his shack and vehicle set alight went viral.
Marikana informal settlement residents accused him of being a serial killer.
Police spokesperson Neville Malila says, "We at the time indicated that there is no relation in terms of the modus operandi in the crime."
He says authorities are not investigating any serial activities at this stage.
