Eskom: The power grid is stable
The power utility says electricity should be used sparingly between 5pm and 9pm.
JOHANNESBURG - Power utility Eskom says although the grid is expected to remain tight during peak hours for the rest of the week, the system is stable.
The utility says it's conducting maintenance work on its generators.
It has ruled out the possibility of load shedding, but says consumers should use electricity sparingly, especially between 5pm and 9pm in the evenings.
The utility's Andrew Etzinger said, "During that period, demand is much higher than other times of the day. We're carrying out maintenance and this is the reason why there is pressure on our supply and demand during peak times."
