The name and logo change has been introduced in celebration of the event’s iconic status.
JOHANNESBURG - The Cape Argus Pick n Pay Momentum Cycle Tour was officially renamed the Cape Town Cycle Tour.
The event's organisers and owners introduced the name and logo change in celebration of the event's iconic status and increasing global appeal last night.
Speaking at the event, Steve Hayward, Chairman of the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust (CTCTT), said the tour has grown from humble beginnings.
"The event has enjoyed a remarkable journey over the past 37 years, and the new name and logo is testament to our coming of age as we move into the next phase to becoming one of the worlds' most desirable participation sporting events."
The event's iconic link to Cape Town was highlighted by Executive Mayor, Patricia De Lille.
"We have a vision for the City of Cape Town to become the events capital of Africa. For years, people from across the country and the world have cycled through the city and seen everything that we have to offer."
The Cape Town Cycle Tour will take place on 8 March and entries open on 26 September 2014 at 2pm.
