CAPE TOWN - Jewish Voices for a Just Peace has laid a complaint with the South African Human Rights Commission against the author of an opinion piece on Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu.

In the article, which appeared on the South African Jewish Report's website, Leon Reich compared Tutu to Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin.

The article referred to the archbishop as "the latest self-appointed midget of history" who wants to destroy the Jewish people.

Reich also claimed the arch would kill Jews before protecting Christians.

He accused Tutu of working with Hamas towards the destruction of the Jewish state.

The online opinion piece has been removed from the Jewish Report's website.

The group's Rina King said they found the piece offensive.

"The statement is completely untrue and offensive."

King said they're also calling on Reich to apologise for the article.

The Jewish Report's website has since uploaded an apology, saying the opinion piece upset its readers.
