Dinokeng festival cancelled on safety concerns
The multimillion rand three-day concert was due to take place next weekend just outside Pretoria.
JOHANNESBURG - The organisers of the Tribe One Dinokeng Festival say they were forced to cancel the event in Cullinan for the safety and security of concert goers.
The multimillion rand three-day concert was due to take place next weekend just outside Pretoria with 150 local and international artists due to perform including US artists Nicki Minaj and J Cole.
The concert was to be hosted by Tribe One and the City of Tshwane and the events company says infrastructure needed at the site of the festival was not ready.
Tribe One spokesman Derrick Kaufmann says the city is responsible for providing infrastructure, but the two parties are still at odds about who is to blame for not meeting the deadline.
"Both parties had responsibilities to deliver on. At this stage we can't agree with the city if the responsibility falls on them or not but as far as we're concerned the infrastructure wasn't sufficient."
