JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) in Gauteng says enough of its branches have held the necessary meetings for their provincial conference to go ahead in two weeks' time.

While the nomination process is not yet finished, it's understood that current Gauteng ANC chairperson Paul Mashatile is likely to retain his post.

At least 70 percent of the province's branches have now met.

ANC Gauteng spokesperson Dumisa Ntuli says, "The branches are currently engaged in a discussion ahead of the conference so that discussion documents will ensure debates on policies in order to stand as an organisation."
