Report: PE schools preventing learners from writing exams
The city is gripped in a schooling crisis following the closure of several schools.
CAPE TOWN - Some schools in Port Elizabeth are allegedly not allowing learners to write exams.
The city is gripped in a schooling crisis following the closure of several schools in protest against teacher shortages.
Most schools affected are primary, Afrikaans and dual-medium institutions.
The Eastern Cape Education Department has promised to send officials to the city next week to assess the extent of the problem.
The Democratic Alliance's Edmund van Vuuren said the children are ill-prepared.
He said a child cannot be expected to write exams if no teaching has taken place.
