Petrol worth R400,000 stolen

JOHANNESBURG - Police are appealing to members of the public to come forward with any information after a truck transporting 35,000 litres of petrol was hijacked in Johannesburg.

The vehicle was recovered in Protea Glen in Soweto earlier this morning empty.

The driver told police he was hijacked by four men on his way from Alrode to Sebokeng at around 2am before being dropped off in Brakpan.

The value of the fuel is estimated at around R400,000 rand.

The police's Kay Makhubela said, "We'd like to know where the petrol was drained so we can arrest the suspects."
