CAPE TOWN - A rather boring first half has ended with Australia having a slim lead.

However the game started off with a bang as Michael Hooper scored after just two minutes, to give the home team the advantage.

That lead was short lived as Argentina winger Manuel Montero made a great run to get over the line for Argentina.

The wet conditions didn't help with handling errors, both teams battling in the line-outs with the slippery ball.

Argentina then managed to put some pressure on with a five metre line-out, but could not make it count.

On the other end Australia looked to have scored with Nick Phipps going over the line but they were penalised as Hooper was holding onto an Argentinian player.

At half time it was 14-7 to the home team.
