The next PSL chapter

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) is back this weekend, looking to add another interesting chapter to what has already been a fascinating season.

The league will welcome two new coaches in the dugout this weekend. Former Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund will take charge of SuperSport United, while Kosta Papic has swapped Chippa United for Polokwane City.

Igesund's tenure at United starts with a game against Platinum Stars, a side which is currently ninth on the log having won two games of their five so far. Dikwena will want to make that three wins when they take on a Matsatsantsa side who have only managed one win in the league. Despite their lowly position of fourteenth, Igesund is still confident his team can cause a few surprises.

"I have already worked with most of the players in the team and we have an understanding. It will never be easy but we need to get the results and we need to start with Stars."

While for Papic, his Polokwane City side takes on AmaZulu in a match that can already be considered a relegation six-pointer. City and AmaZulu occupy 15th and 16th place in the league respectively, with one win between them - that being City's 1-0 victory over AmaTuks last month. And if Papic is to ensure his side survives relegation, he needs to start picking up points… and fast.

Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are both in action this weekend as they look to go into next week's MTN 8 final in some form. Chiefs are at home to AmaTuks at the FNB Stadium, while Pirates host Wits in a MTN 8 semi-final rematch. Chiefs seem to have the much easier game, on paper, against AmaTuks. The Students have only triumphed in one match, while the Glamour Boys are on a five-match winning streak and have only conceded one goal this season.

For Pirates, they are searching for a third win in a row but must be wary of a Wits side looking for revenge having been humbled 5-1 on aggregate in the MTN 8.
