CAPE TOWN - Manenberg community members have taken to the streets to vent their anger after a 15-year-old boy was shot dead there this afternoon.

The teenager known as 'Kaashief' was shot and killed on the corner of Kay and Duynefontein Roads.

It's understood he was trying to push small children out of harm's way when he was gunned down.

A group of Manenberg community members are holding up placards which read "we want peace"and "stop killing our children".

A cross has been placed at the spot where 'Kaashief' was shot and killed. His body has since been removed.

Resident Washiela Henry says the victim was not affiliated to a gang.

She says he was killed while trying to push small children out of the way when the unknown gunman opened fire.

Residents now fear a retaliation attack will take place this evening.
