JOHANNESBURG - Soweto residents say they are in shock after another shopping mall robbery in the township in just a matter of days.

A security guard was shot dead and four others were wounded at the Black Chain Shopping Centre in Diepkoof yesterday.

It's understood two G4S security guards were collecting money from a store when they were approached by four men who opened fire.

The men made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

Four people including a security guard are recovering in hospital this morning following yesterday's shooting.

The police's Lungelo Dlamini says the three civilians were caught in the cross fire.

"Police are looking for a group of men who fired the shots."

The police say the suspects fled in two cars that had fake number plates.

This is the second mall robbery in Soweto in the last week, on Monday six armed men robbed a store at the Maponya Mall.

At the same time a Samsung store at the Cradlestone Mall on the West Rand was robbed on Friday.

The robbers made off with cellphones and tablets worth hundreds of thousands of rand.

It's understood five gunmen entered the shop and threatened the staff with guns before locking them in a backroom.

Furthermore, Northgate Mall was robbed while a Telkom Connect store was robbed at the Kolonnade Shopping Centre in Pretoria on Tuesday and another at the Eastgate Shopping Mall on Wednesday.
