Phiyega tells nation to celebrate fallen cops
National Police Service Commemoration Day is meant to pay homage to officers who've died on duty.
PRETORIA - National police Commissioner Riah Phiyega says the nation should celebrate the courage and dedication of officers who've died in the line of duty.
Phiyega addressed the National South African Police Service Commemoration Day at the Union Buildings in Pretoria a short while ago.
The event is meant to pay homage to police officers who've died in the line of duty in the past year.
She told the families of the deceased police officers that although they are filled with grief they should not be overcome by emotion.
"Let's not only mourn their passing but rejoice their lives and celebrate their courage."
