Girl, 13, shot dead
The girl and her friends were picked up by a group of young men travelling in a kombi.
JOHANNESBURG - Police have confirmed a 13-year-old girl has been shot dead allegedly by two men in Protea Glen in Soweto.
It's believed the girl and five of her friends were in Thokoza Park in Rockville yesterday afternoon and were picked up by a group of young men travelling in a kombi.
The surviving girls told police they were then transported to a house in Protea Glen where they were given alcohol.
The police's Kay Makhubela says after midnight the girls were allegedly forced to have sex with the boys who picked them up at Thokoza Park and when they refused, they were chased out of the house.
"They were kept in a house where they were given alcohol and the next morning they were chased away."
Makhubela says as the girls made their way home two unknown men opened fire on them.
"At 2 am a 13-year-old girl was shot and killed when she was on her way from Rockville to Protea Glen."
A case of murder and kidnapping is being investigated.
