JOHANNESBURG - A debate on the National Minimum Wage is set to take centre stage at today's National Economic Development and Labour Council (Nedlac) Summit, where leaders from government, business and labour are expected to meet in Johannesburg.

The summit will be addressed by Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant.

Over the past year, dozens of unions have called for government to introduce a National Minimum Wage and at its conference in Mangaung, the African National Congress (ANC) committed to finalising it.

Ramaphosa's spokesman Ronnie Mamoepa says, "The theme of Ramaphosa's address will be 'Working together to bring about inclusive growth', to convince partners at Nedlac to consider issues around wage inequality and National Minimum Wage."
