CAPE TOWN - Metrorail says trains on the central line are experiencing delays this morning as a result of a passenger-related incident.

A man died after he was knocked over by a train near Philippi station this morning.

Police are currently on the scene.

Metrorail's Riana Scott says that as a result of the incident, trains on the line are experiencing delays between 15 and 20 minutes.

"It is a major concern and we can just repeat again and say to people it's not worth your life to try and cross a railway line."

Meanwhile, Metrorail says an investigation is underway after a commuter was allegedly pushed from a moving train near Parow station.

The man was rushed to the Tygerberg Hospital on Wednesday after the incident.

The carriage he was traveling in was apparently overcrowded.

The railways operator's Richard Walker says, "We'll be doing our own investigation as well. We'll wait for the outcome of the investigation to establish what happened and what the sequence of events were."
