Mrwebi summonsed to appear in court
Charges were laid against Mrwebi for his role in the decision to withdraw charges against Richard Mdluli.
JOHANNESBURG - The Hawks have now confirmed that Lawrence Mrwebi, the National Prosecuting Authority's specialised Commercial Crimes Unit head has been summonsed to appear in court in three weeks on charges of defeating the ends of justice.
Charges were laid against Mrwebi by NPA head Mxolisi Nxasana after the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) said he had not acted properly in his decision to withdraw charges against former police crime intelligence unit head Richard Mdluli.
Mrwebi may also be facing charges relating to claims he tried to protect a friend from investigation.
Hawks spokesperson Paul Ramaloko has confirmed he must now appear in court.
