Nkandla ad hoc committee at an impasse
MPs have not yet elected a chairperson or found solutions to mandate issues.
The committee has yet to appoint a chairperson after opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) last week insisted they first wanted its mandate clearly spelt out.
African National Congress (ANC) Chief Whip Stone Sizani earlier this month assured MPs the committee will consider all the reports on Nkandla, including that of the Public Protector.
But opposition MPs have been holding out for this promise to be included in the committee's mandate, claiming not to trust Sizani's promises.
EWN understands the matter was raised at Wednesday's chief whips' forum, where political problems between parties are usually ironed out.
Three opposition chief whips confirmed the issue was raised but that Sizani blocked any discussion.
Sizani has since told EWN it's a matter for National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete.
The issue could now come before today's meeting of the National Assembly programming committee, which Mbete chairs.
