Whackhead makes Disney debut

JOHANNESBURG - Radio personality Darren 'Whackhead' Simpson has announced that he is set to voice a character in Disney's upcoming animation_ Planes: Fire & Rescue_.

The funnyman will voice the character Drip, one of five firefighters called the 'Smokejumpers', a lively bunch of brave all-terrain vehicles who support a dynamic crew of elite firefighting aircraft devoted to protecting historic Piston Peak National Park from raging wildfire.

"Voicing Drip, and featuring in a Disney movie is huge! It's a dream project, I've had fun and enjoyed the whole process. It's a tight contest between me and my two-year old as to who's more excited about watching the completed movie," says Simpson who hosts the Breakfast Xpress on 947.

The film sees the return of world-famous air racer Dusty [voice of Dane Cook] who learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again. Dusty realises that he needs to shift gears and is launched into the world of aerial firefighting, joining forces with veteran fire-and-rescue helicopter Blade Ranger [voice of Ed Harris] and his courageous team.

The film releases in cinemas nationwide on 26 September.
