JOHANNESBURG - Orlando Pirates made it two wins in a row when they sailed past Polokwane City with a 3-0 victory at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Two goals in the first half from the free-flowing Buccaneers seemingly made the game safe for the visitors, after Polokwane City struggled to find the target, apart from goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa being called into action to clear a header off his line from a Jabulani Maluleke free kick.
Kermit Erasmus got the Sea Robbers off the mark with a fantastic strike from outside the box, before Thabo Qalinge scored with another cracking first-time effort.
Substitute and new signing Lehlohonolo Majoro kept up his scoring form when he and Daine Klate stole the ball from Thapelo Tshilo to put the game to bed.
The win gives Vladimir Vermezovic's men their second win of the premiership campaign and moves them into 5th place on the log, four points behind Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs.
The loss for Polokwane City keeps them near the bottom of the log on just a single point ahead of last placed AmaZulu, who have a game in hand.
Elsewhere, Free State Stars had to come from behind through Moeketsi Sekola to draw 1-1 with Maritzburg United, after a second minute goal from Kwanda Mngonyama at Goble Park.
The result moves Maritzburg onto equal points with Pirates on the log with eight points, while Stars stay a single point behind in 7th place.
