Parts of Boksburg still without power
An explosion of incoming circuit breakers from Eskom to Ekurhuleni caused the power outage in Boksburg.
JOHANNESBURG - Ekurhuleni municipality says power has still not been restored to large parts of Boksburg despite initially saying it would be back up by this morning.
Boksburg east, parts of the CBD, Parkrand, Sunward Park and Freeway Park, have been without power since yesterday morning after an explosion of incoming circuit breaker from Eskom to Ekurhuleni.
The municipality's senior technician Hannes Roos says it's taking longer than expected to get the power supply back on.
He says technicians have been working through the night.
"The delay occurred during the night as we found out that some work had to be done at both the top where we work with cranes."
Meanwhile, Joburg City Power has committed to have residents in Bryanston reconnected by 2 pm following a three day outage.
Power to the area was cut on Friday morning.
City Power says one of its feeder cables was damaged and needed intensive repair work.
Spokesman Louis Pieterse says reconnection took longer than expected because technicians couldn't gain access to one of its load centres situated on a private property.
"When we did gain access, we continued testing and identified two more faults which we repaired."
