Consumers to benefit from stable fuel price
There is also a strong possibility there won’t be any inflation on food prices.
JOHANNESBURG - Motorists are not the only people set to benefit from a fuel price decrease next week as economists say some relief is expected on food prices.
The Energy Department on Friday announced the price of all grades of petrol will drop by 67 cents on Wednesday while diesel and illuminating paraffin will cost 25 cents less.
The department says the drop is due to international oil prices significantly decreasing and the scrapping of the slate levy.
Economists say it's likely the price of fuel will remain stable for the rest of the year.
Chief Economist Xhanti Payi says this also means there is a strong possibility there won't be any inflation on food prices.
