JOHANNESBURG - The Springboks have accepted the ice bucket challenge, to show their support for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) awareness, after being challenged by former Springbok Bok great Joost van der Westhuizen.
The ice bucket challenge is a social media campaign that aims to raise awareness and money to fight ALS.
Player Willem Alberts explains:
"Joost, we accept your challenge. The reason we're accepting it is you're my hero, you're all of our hero, you're a Springbok legend. We're donating R15,000 to the J9 Foundation. We are challenging the Springbok Sevens and all the unions in South Africa for this challenge."
