60 JHB drunk drivers arrested

JOHANNESBURG - More than 50 drunk drivers have been arrested in Johannesburg overnight, in a blitz operation by female Metro Police officers to commemorate Women's Month.

The motorists were taken into custody between 9pm and 4am at four roadblocks in Soweto, the City Centre and M1 Freeway off ramps.

The Metro Police's Wayne Minnaar says all 60 arrested have been released on bail.

"94 female Metro Police officers held four roadblocks on Friday night in commemoration of Women's Month. They arrested 60 drunken drivers at four separate road blocks. The drivers were given bail that range from R1,000 to R1,500."
