JOHANNESBURG - Mamelodi Sundows got their first win of the new season last night when they defeated Moroka Swallows 2-0 at Dobsenville Stadium.

The Brazilians waited until the second half for goals from new signings, Mame Niang and Kudakwashe Mahachi.

Coach Pitso Mosimane felt that the win was well deserved for his side who have struggled early on in the season.

"The problem we have in South Africa is the last step guys. A South African player is not trained to be composed and take the pressure off. They pass when they are supposed to shoot, apply more power where it's supposed to be a soft touch.

"We all have that. It's a last step, we can't do nothing. That thing is being sorted in the U14s, U15s and U17s."

For Mosimane, despite the two goals his side scored, he felt that the chances his side created could have been better executed, adding that the lack of finishing was a problem in the league.

"We need to break the ice as the tension has been there, the stress has been there, but I'm professional, a win will come."

Mosimane has also hit back at supporters who felt new signing Mame Niang does not fit in with the team's style of play.

"And this talk that Mame Niang affects Sundowns play, I stuck with him because I know what I'm doing and I want to show what I'm doing with the player. We didn't bring him because we want him to head the ball."

Swallows coach Zeca Marques said, "We didn't play well going forward and that's been one of our problems. We still lacking in those departments and conceding the goals the way we conceded. I think we could have dealt with the situation better given how we conceded those goals.

Marques says the game could have ended in a draw."

Sundowns will be looking to replicate last nights form when they take on Orlando Pirates next Wednesday.

At the same time, Pirates played to a 1-1 draw against Amazulu at Orlando Stadium.

The Buccaneers are yet to record a win this season, having played three games, losing one and drawing two.
