Gautrain shooting: Police make plea for info
A 52-year-old man was shot dead and his son injured after they were ambushed outside the station.
JOHANNESBURG - Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the shooting of a father and son outside the Marlboro Gautrain station to come forward.
A 52-year-old man and his 20-year-old son were ambushed by two men.
The father died at the scene.
The motive for the attack is still unknown.
Police say they are investigating the possibility of an attempted hijacking, but are also looking into other leads as the suspects opened fire at only the driver's side of the vehicle.
The police's Kim Cloete says, "We are just making an appeal to the public for any witnesses to the actual crime to please come forward. They can contact Crime Line, or Alexander Police Station."
The son has since been discharged from hospital and is said to be preparing for his father's funeral.
