Two suspected dog smugglers arrested

CAPE TOWN - Police say two men have been arrested for illegally transporting more than 30 dogs over a border post in the Northern Cape into Namibia.

The two Angolan men were arrested earlier today at the Vioolsdrift border in Springbok.

It's believed they were heading to Angola.

33 canines including Boerboels, Huskies and German Shepherds have been confiscated.

The police's Sergio de Kock says, "Most of the dogs were dehydrated and showed symptoms of malnutrition. The men were also charged with improper transportation of animals. The dogs were seized and taken to the SPCA in Uppington where they are currently being monitored and kept.
