JOHANNESBURG - Defending champions Platinum Stars take on Kaizer Chiefs in the first leg of the MTN8 semi-finals.

Having secured their third cup semi-final appearance in four consecutive tournaments, Stars coach Alan Freese has dismissed suggestions that he sets out his side to perform better in the knockout tournaments.

The clubs will meet at Royal Bafokeng Stadium tonight, with the Amakhosi riding high after three straight victories.

Dikwena earned their place in the semi-finals when they beat Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in the quarterfinals, with goals from Vuyo Mere and new signing Ndumiso Mabena.

Chiefs, in contrast, put up the most impressive performance in the previous round when they battered Black Aces 4-0 at home.

Early goals from Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Kingston Nkhatha were followed by a second-half brace from winger Mandla Masango.

The Amakhosi head into the match unbeaten in the early stages of the competition.

Kick-off is at 8:15 pm.
