Reiger Park child murder: No arrests yet
Safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane is confident the suspect will be arrested by the end of this week.
JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Community Safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane says she's confident the man who allegedly kidnapped and killed three-year-old Curburne van Wyk from Reiger Park will be arrested by the end of this week.
Van Wyk's partially burnt body was discovered at a mine dump on Saturday, three days after he was kidnapped while playing outside his family home.
Police say they are still searching for his alleged killer, a man known in the East Rand community as 'Chicken'.
Nkosi-Malobane's spokesperson, Thapelo Moiloa, says the MEC has asked police to work around the clock on this case.
"As of now there's a suspect that's actually being sort and the MEC is hoping that by the end of this week the perpetrator will face the might of the law."
The MEC was scheduled to visit Van Wyk's family on Tuesday, but cancelled at the last minute.
