'Agricultural sector needs skill improvement'
Gwede Mantashe says graduates in the agriculture sector must gain experience on farms.
JOHANNESBURG - African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Gwede Mantashe says there needs to be skill improvement in the agricultural sector and young graduates must get experience on the farms.
Mantashe is speaking about land reform at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) in Johannesburg this morning.
He says apartheid left many black farmers without skills when their land was taken away from them.
Mantashe says this needs to be rectified to ensure food security.
"I looked into a number of young graduates and those young graduates end up nowhere. The department is not absorbing them. And I said to them, why don't you take these young graduates and send them to farms?"
