Mahlangu slams service delivery on the East Rand
Mahlangu and other MECs visited several communities in the area to assess the level of service delivery.
JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu has criticised public servants at clinics and police stations on the East Rand for alleged slow service delivery and neglect.
Mahlangu and other MECs visited several communities on the East Rand on Tuesday to assess the level of service offered to people at clinics, schools and police stations.
"There needs to be a way to get civil servants to understand that they are there to serve communities."
She told patients at the Reiger Park Clinic she will not hesitate to take action against nurses accused of neglecting them.
"I [refuse] to have patients who have been neglected."
Mahlangu also condemned the recent increase in child murders and women abuse in Reiger Park and Actonville.
She was scheduled to visit the family of slain three-year-old boy Curburne van Wyk but cancelled at the last minute.
