SA drug mules want royal pardons
At least seven South African drug mules are currently held in Thai prisons.
CAPE TOWN - A businessman who is trying to assist two South Africans imprisoned in Thailand for drug-related offences says he's trying to help them secure their freedom through a royal pardon.
At least seven South African drug mules are currently languishing in Thai prisons.
Henk Vanstaen, who was born to Belgian parents in Rwanda, is now helping two women compile the required documentation to petition Thai authorities in a bid to be released or transferred back home to serve out their sentences.
Vanstaen says while the women were in the wrong, it's their families he worries about most.
"If they are guilty, they are guilty. They should serve their terms but we can't punish their families for it."
