Child rapist get 20-year sentence
Darryl Woest was found guilty on nine charges relating to the sexual assault of children.
CAPE TOWN - Northern Cape police say the lengthy imprisonment of a child rapist should serve as a deterrent to potential offenders.
Darryl Woest was this week sentenced to 20 years behind bars.
He was found guilty on nine charges relating to the sexual assault of children.
This included the rape of an 11-year-old boy at a school hostel where Woest stayed.
"Crime against women and children is a priority for the SAPS and we'd also want to appeal to the community to partner with us in reporting such crimes to the police."
Meanwhile, another Northern Cape man was arrested on this week for the rape of a child at a Shebeen in Kimberly.
The 20-year-old man allegedly sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl in a toilet cubicle.
