Ses’khona to reimburse CT
Demonstrators ran amok in October last year in a violent service delivery protest led by the group.
CAPE TOWN -The Cape Town Magistrates Court has given the City of Cape Town the go-ahead to recover around R55,000 worth of damages caused by a group of protesters in the Cape Town CBD last year.
The city says the group maliciously destroyed property and looted vendors' stalls.
The municipality's JP Smith says the judgment paves the way for other law suits against Ses'khona, which has also been linked to the so called 'faeces war' in the Mother City.
"We are hoping to have success with the civil proceedings because the amounts they owe the rate payers in Cape Town runs into millions and in fact, it's in excess of R12 million."
