JOHANNESBURG - Police are investigating possible drunken driving following a near fatal accident involving murder accused Oscar Pistorius's, brother, Carl.

The Blade Runner's brother was critically injured in a head on collision on the N1 outside Modimolle in Limpopo.

Carl is being treated at the Pretoria East hospital for multiple fractures.

Police said a case of negligent and reckless driving will be opened after the accident.

Although the cause of the accident is still being investigated, it's believed the driver of the other vehicle veered out of his lane and onto oncoming traffic colliding with Carl.

It's believed he was returning from a business trip from Polokwane and both drivers are reported to have been seriously injured.

In 2008 Carl was involved in a collision with a motorcyclist who died and was later acquitted of culpable homicide.
