CAPE TOWN - The Cape Chamber Of Commerce and Industry on Friday said it feared further electricity price hikes would hamper business growth.

It is likely that power will cost more than eight percent extra next year.

Eskom has not confirmed the exact percentage increase.

The chamber's Janine Myburgh says it's unfair that consumers are being forced to pay more for an often problematic service.

"It is a challenge for any business to survive and when you're output costs, such as your electricity, are escalating and you are unsure whether you will have electricity or not, it is a point of concern."
