'Eskom may raise prices in 2015'
Nersa says Eskom may adjust rates next year above the already eight percent increases.
JOHANNESBURG - The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) has granted Eskom permission to adjust rates next year above the eight percent increase already granted.
Nersa announced today that it's approved the regulatory clearing account balance of R7.8 billion for the power utility.
The actual percentage tariff hike has yet to be determined.
The regulatory body says it will draft an implementation plan to determine exactly how Eskom will recover the money.
Nersa's Thembani Bukula said, "The tariff hikes will be implemented on 1 April, 2015."
