City of CT opposes Sanral application
Sanral aims to keep details around the proposed N1 and N2 Winelands toll projects private.
CAPE TOWN - Cape Town city bosses say they're opposing an application bythe South African National Road Agency Limited (Sanral) which aims to keep details around the proposed N1 and N2 Winelands tolling projects private.
The matter is expected to be heard in the Western Cape high court next Monday.
Some of the information reportedly includes tariff rates and how much revenue will go to the operator.
But the city's Brett Herron believes the details should not be kept secret.
" Sanral wishes to withhold this information from the public. The city will be opposing this application. We don't believe there is any basis for withholding the financial information from the residents of Cape Town and South Africa in general."
The proposed route runs along the N1 and N2, with the N2 portion stretching from the R300 to Bot River.
The multimillion rand project was put on hold after the Western Cape high court granted an interim interdict in May last year.
