JOHANNSBURG - Job growth in South Africa has once again come into sharp focus with the latest figures showing the unemployment rate increased by 0,3 percent in the second quarter of 2014.

This was revealed by Statistics South Africa on Tuesday.

Figures show 5,154 million people were without work during between April and June.

The manufacturing sector lost 93,000 jobs over the same period.

Labour analyst Terry Bell says the increase comes as no surprise.

"It's probably inevitable because [the] economic crisis continues. We have a major problem."
