'Funds for SA nuclear programme a challenge'
The Energy Ministry says R850 million was allocated to the department for research and development.
CAPE TOWN - Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa says funding for South Africa's bold nuclear programme is going to be a "major challenge".
The Energy Ministry says R850 million has been allocated to the department and its agencies to undertake research and development into nuclear energy.
This will form part of the country's energy mix going forward.
But Ramaphosa says the funding challenge shouldn't be an impediment.
"We've got to come with ways to raise capital, some of us have been talking to financial institutions."
