Another miner shot in North West
The latest victim was outside a bottle store when a group of armed men opened fire on him.
JOHANNESBURG - Another miner has been shot dead this time outside a bottle store in Kroondal near Rustenburg.
The man who had been inside a bottle store near Rustenburg when a group of armed men opened fire on him when he came out.
On Tuesday, an Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) member, Bongani "Bhayi" Mehlonkomo, was killed while walking home from work at Lonmin's Marikana mine in the North West.
North West police say at this stage the two shooting incidents are not linked.
Advocate Dali Mpofu, who represents miners at the Marikana Commission of Inquiry, says he was targeted because the controversial police witness only known as Mr X, mentioned his name while testifying and implicated him in several crimes committed during the strike in August 2012.
Mpofu added his clients are concerned because they say Mr X is falsely implicating many of them.
