CAPE TOWN - Rural Development and Land Reform Minister Gugile Nkwinti says five land bills will be introduced in Parliament this year.

One of them is the contentious Regulations of Land Holdings Bill which seeks to limit foreign land ownership.

Nkwinti delivered his department's budget vote in Parliament yesterday.

He outlined the bills he'll be bringing to Parliament this year.

He said government will introduce legislation to stop foreigners buying land in South Africa, but doesn't think it's wise to expropriate existing foreign-owned land.

Nkwinti said the ANC was clear it would implement a resolution that in future, foreigners could lease, but not own land in South Africa.

The legislation would be brought to Parliament in around November.
