R699 a month car saga goes to court
Car owners want to declare all contracts between the banks and motorists null and void.
CAPE TOWN - An Eastern Cape man who has purchased a car on the controversial R699 a month car scheme says some cars have already been auctioned off while consumers have been blacklisted.
A group of people who bought cars under the discounted scheme was granted an urgent hearing by the Eastern Cape High Court where they appeared yesterday.
The consumers want to declare all contracts between the banks and motorists null and void.
Johan Bartosch's case will be used to present all the other consumers also affected by the scheme.
"We want the court to rule that people who want to give their cars back, give them to the bank and write off the debt so we don't get blacklisted. We can't afford it anymore."
